MTG Creature Type

Vampire-type creatures in Magic: the Gathering were first introduced in Alpha. They are a characteristic race for black, but are also occasionally seen in red. Sengir Vampire was the first card printed with the subtype. They are most commonly associated with the plane of Innistrad. Edgar Markov is the first vampire of Innistrad and a key character of MTG lore. Vampire-type cards care about life total and often have lifeling or drain.
